A collaborative project with
Plain Truth Mission Family Church

What is it?

Hoops for Peace is a collaborative project by Plain Truth Mission Family Church and Peace Cup USA.

Hoops for Peace is a community-based initiative to promote community bonding in the youth generation through sports.

We build basketball hoops in local community centers and churches to provide positive opportunities and safe places for the youth to gather.

Through sports, we aim to provide an alternative to the challenges and influences surrounding young people in our own communities.

Hoops for Peace uses the power of sports to inspire and bring people together one hoop at a time.

Join us for our ribbon-cutting for a new basketball facility in LA on Saturday, September 19th!

We will have a church and street cleanup service project from 9:00-11:00 AM.

The cleanup will be the first part of our program, followed by the
Hoops for Peace Ribbon-Cutting program.

Ribbon-Cutting

The ribbon-cutting will be done by “Sweet Alice” Harris.

“Sweet Alice” Harris is an American community activist who has been the founder and executive director of Parents of Watts for the last 59 years. As a witness to the 1965 Watts Rebellion, and as a way to help ease the tensions in her community that followed, Harris worked out of her house to rebuild the community through Parents of Watts.
